The Best Clothes For Pilates

When picking an outfit for your next Pilates class, keep in mind that comfort is more important than fashion. As popularity for Pilates increases, so does the need to “look cute” whilst practicing Pilates and there’s definitely a way to have the best of both worlds.

Let’s start from the bottom up:

1. LEGGINGS
Leggings have increased in popularity not only for exercise or ones work out routine, but woman across the world have traided in their jeans and skirts for them to wear on the daily! A few of our favorite brands for leggings are Lulullemon, Athleta, and Alo. If you're looking for workout leggings, go for a pair made with performance fibers (i.e. synthetics) like nylon or polyester. They're usually moisture-wicking, more durable and opaque, and have better stretch than cotton.

2. SPORTS BRA
Since Pilates doesn’t normally tend to be super high intensity (that is of course, you’re signing up for an ass kicking HIIT class), you can choose a SPORTS BRA that falls into the “cute” category but making sure it’s functional as well as one that you won’t need to adjust during class, which can be such a pain! Make sure it’s tight, but not too tight and comfortably holds your ladies into place so that you’re not constantly adjusting them during class, no one likes a nip slip!

3. TANKS/ TEES
You’ll deifinitely want to go for comfort here as well as a breathable fabric that during your sweat sesh, you’re not having to wring out your clothes! Since you’ll be doing a lot of movements that engages the mid section, especially when doing supine ab series (laying on your back and moving in a forward flexion), make sure the length of the tank or tee is to your comfort level of skin exposure. Our absolute favorite brand for tops is Pilates Honey, they’ve got everything you’ll need to keep you looking fresh and fly from street to studio with a wide variety of lengths and sizes to suite your wants and needs. They’re fabrics are soft and breathable, perfect for your next pilates class!

At the end of the day, you want to make sure YOU are comfortable and feel good in your skin!
